Following the sale of 90% stake in its Mexican LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TV to Hon Hai Precision Industry, Sony is expected to further its collaboration with the Taiwanese EMS (Electronics Manufacturing Service) provider in China, Economic Daily News of Taiwan reported on October 27. It is reported that Hon Hai will manufacture and sell two million LCD TVs and four million game consoles for Sony in China in 2010. Sony, meanwhile, will be responsible for brand management and marketing. This business model is expected to be the main collaborative method between the two companies in China for the future. According to the Economic Daily News report, Hon Hai will strengthen and expand its distribution system in China by investing more than NT$10 billion (US$305.8 million; US$1=NT$32.7) in setting up around 10,000 3C and consumer electronics retail chains.
